OREGON CITY, Ore. (KATU) — A man is dead after authorities say he fired shots at them. They fired back, and he turned the gun on himself.
Oregon City Police Chief Shaun Davis said the man died at the scene and noted officers attempted to provide first aid.
"Once on scene, officers encountered an adult male subject involved with the disturbance in the street. The man was armed with a gun and shot at one of our officers. The officer returned fire, and the man subsequently shot himself," Davis said.
He noted that police were responding to a 911 call that came from a home at the 13300 block of Clairmont Way around 5 a.m.
Davis said the call was dropped but before that happened the dispatcher overheard what sounded like a domestic disturbance.
