The South Dakota Agricultural Foundation recently awarded $20,000 in grants to support agricultural education and youth development programs in South Dakota.
Ag Foundation CEO Kyle Holt noted, “Investing in the next generation has always been a priority for the Foundation. We’re excited to have the opportunity to partner with these organizations as they do important work across South Dakota.”
Over the past ten years, the Ag Foundation has awarded more than $100,000 in grant funding to enhance the importance of rural communities and the value of organizations that are working to improve rural life.
Ten organizations from across the state received an Ag Innovators Youth Education Grant, which supports innovative solutions to ag education. Projects include enhancing the FFA Ag Adventure Center at the South Dakota State Fair, expanding Career Technical Education classes at McCrossan Boys Ranch, refining a newly developed curriculum for fifth grade on Science in Ag, and providing communications workshops for FFA participants. Other grant recipients include the South Dakota Discovery Center, the Boys and Girls Club of Aberdeen, and South Dakota Farmers Union.

The Dell Rapids FCCLA chapter received a Building Rural Communities grant to build tables and chairs for the children’s area of the Dell Rapids Public Library. This grant program is designed to help 4-H Clubs, FFA Chapters, and Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapters in efforts to support community improvements or to enhance public safety.
