MONTANA - The NFL draft kicked off with the first round on Thursday, though well-known names from the Montana area have yet to be selected.
Former Washington State and Miami quarterback Cam Ward was picked first overall by the Tennessee Titans. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to secure superstar two-way player Travis Hunter.
However, Shadeur Sanders, a former teammate from Colorado, was not selected, which surprised many since he was once considered a top five pick.
In the middle of the first round, the Seattle Seahawks chose Grey Zabel from North Dakota State.
The Montana community is eagerly awaiting the selection of Tommy Mellott from Butte. Despite not hearing his name yet, experts believe Mellott will be picked, likely in the fifth or sixth round.
"There's too much buzz and too much heat on him for him to slip through the draft," said one expert.
Rounds two and three of the NFL draft will continue Friday, with rounds four through seven concluding on Saturday. Fans can follow the draft coverage on ESPN, NFL Network and NonStop Local ABC.
