Davina McCall had an emotional moment during this year’s Comic Relief as she opened up about her incredibly difficult brain tumour diagnosis as the ‘hardest’ time in her life.
The beloved TV presenter, 57, had an operation on November 15 after a random health check discovered a benign brain tumour.
Davina required a craniotomy to get it removed and was forced to rest after the procedure.
While presenting Friday’s annual fundraiser the TV personality told viewers through tears: ‘I had a pretty mad year this year. Doctors found a benign brain tumour by chance and after a lot of deliberating I had it removed.
‘And it’s been, quite possibly, the hardest thing I’ve ever been through and this whole experience, weirdly, kind of weighing up all the risks and all the positive things about having this tumour removed made me think deeply about what life is all about, and what really, really matters when things get tough.’
The former Big Brother presenter then began to cry as she spoke of the support she had received from her family and partner Michael Douglas.
She continued: ‘But this whole experience, weirdy, of weighing up all the risks and all the positive things about having this tumour removed, made me really think deeply about what life is all about and what really, really matters when things get tough.
‘I needed the brilliance and the skill of lots of medical experts to make me okay.
‘And oh my goodness I’ve needed the love and support…’
Davina had to stop her monologue as she fought back her tears, telling the audience: ‘Sorry, sorry. No I’m good guys.’
The Long Lost Family star was cheered by the audience, and continued: ‘The support of my friends and my family and particularly of Michael to get me through.’

Davina has had the full support of her loved ones and fans throughout her recovery, with plenty of famous faces wishing her well.
During the operation, doctors removed a 14mmm colloid cyst in the middle of her brain, which had caused Davina ‘fogginess and inability to remember’, which she originally put down to menopause.
Thankfully, the procedure went well, as complications could include a stroke or never being able to hold short-term memory beyond five minutes.

In a recent interview, Davina spoke about the aftermath of her surgery and how it’s made her feel ’25 again’ as her mind feels ‘more active’.
