Yemen's Growing Military Capabilities Raise Alarm in the West

News - Yemen: Reports from the West acknowledge Yemen's growing military capabilities, which now extend into the Indian Ocean, posing a significant threat to the ambitions of enemies in the region.

After the Yemeni operation targeting the vessel MSC Orion in the Indian Ocean, Western observers expressed confusion and alarm.

The Associated Press noted that the operation has highlighted concerns about Yemen's military capabilities, showcasing its ability to conduct operations across vast distances in the Indian Ocean.

Furthermore, the Associated Press raised questions about how Yemen managed to execute a maritime attack from a distance against a moving target without possessing a significant naval fleet or satellite capabilities.

The agency cited the United States-led Joint Maritime Information Center in the Middle East, confirming that the MSC Orion was targeted due to its association with Israel.

Specialized maritime magazine TradeWinds emphasized that the attack on the MSC Orion showcases Yemen's ability to target ships over long distances, contrary to some narratives in Western media.

Contrary to initial reports, it revealed that the strike did cause damage to the vessel.

Marine Corps Times, a publication focusing on US naval affairs, highlighted efforts by US Marines to learn from Yemeni tactics in the Red Sea.

The newspaper noted that despite having less sophisticated equipment than Western forces, Yemeni Armed Forces have successfully executed operations, showcasing how ground forces armed with sensors and missiles can challenge naval vessels effectively.

The Marine Corps Times underscored Yemeni efforts as an example of effective reconnaissance, counter, and prevention of sea entry during confrontations.

Recognizing Yemen's significant capabilities altering strategic dynamics, the Washington Institute for Near East Studies noted Yemeni forces' role in globalizing the conflict by disrupting enemy navigation in the war against the Zionist regime.

The institute's study highlighted Yemeni forces' flexibility in confronting aggression from the US and UK, noting unprecedented attacks on occupied Palestinian territories that have compelled Western armies to invest in costly interception systems.

It emphasized Yemeni attacks' coordination with American, European, Arab, and Israeli air defenses, showcasing the Yemenis' ability to launch long-range attacks effectively.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have conducted recent attacks on ships with ties to Israel near Yemeni ports, including the interception and seizure of a vessel associated with the Tel Aviv regime on November 19.

The maritime attacks have forced some of the world’s biggest shipping and oil companies to suspend transit through one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes.

Tankers are instead adding thousands of miles to international shipping routes by sailing around the continent of Africa rather than going through the Suez Canal.
